That’s a screen name I haven’t seen in a long time, I can remember commenting on Supra videos many years ago and seeing yours if I’m not mistaken 🫡. And honestly brother it’s just the GTR magic 🫨. (Not always the case) but from driving both, it will take a few extra hundred HP out of a MKIV 6 spd to hang with a R35 GTR. They shift soooo insanely quick, maintain boost throughout the gear box, and unless it has mega quad digit HP… they are hooking without problem.

@@919MotorsportsI believe the opposite is true with a capable Supra driver who can shift, brother. prime example: factory stock gearbox 6sp manual MKIV hardly pulled on by a GTR with 110 additional whp (13% more power) to over 160mph ua-cam.com/video/78az8a_KFTw/v-deo.html it is physically impossible for a car with more weight (400+lbs) and less power (200hp) to pull harder while in boost. no transmission makes that difference- if the Supra was granny shifting and having complete boost drop during shifts but pulling HARD during the gears, the power figures would've added up. the result of the video with the listed power figures are not possible- the motor/turbo was hurt, or someone was sandbagging hard. hundreds of lbs less weight, less drivetrain loss, less frontal area, more top end stability. the amount of power it takes Supras, TTGs, and GTRs to trap certain speeds at the 1/4, 1/2, and standing mile all tell a different story.

@@supra1722 There are definitely exceptions to everything, and there are some properly built MKIV’s out there like Geo’s old Supra that were monstrosities. But those transmissions in the GTR’s are that fast, DCT’s are absolutely no joke. Depending on the tire/suspension set up a 800 hp plus Supra can be a handful traction wise compared to the AWD. Mine makes no where near that, and has surprised me a few times spinning on a roll. Also consider the spool time on a factory turbo setup vs the big single on a Supra. Once you reach a certain power level in racing, it’s more about who can put down the power most effectively.

My point is that DCT isn't a magic power multiplier and will never be able to make a 400lb heavier car with 200hp less pull harder, it's only a time-saver. the only way such a vehicle, heavier and less power but with constant transmission of power, can win a race is if it makes up ground during the competitor's shifts, it will never pull while both are under load. in the case of this video, the Supra was hardly losing any time/ground during the shifts due to a competent driver, but was walked anyhow- which unquestionably casts doubt on the provided power figures for both cars, at least during this race.

That car sounded amazing. I mean you could certainly hear the exhaust system, but no obnoxious drone to ruin a drive on the highway

@@919Motorsports thanks for the quick response! Love the way it sounds, but ive been hesitant due to some comments im reading online. Some are saying its so loud they have to wear earplugs while driving, and that it drones horribly after 70mph+.. I definitely dont want to deal with that lol
